From the pop news slot on MFM in 1991 to the CMU Weekly podcast in 2011, I’ve been talking about music and the music business for a very long time. I regularly comment, present and lecture on the music and media industries, on radio and TV, online, and at universities and conferences.

PODCASTING
I co-present and edit the popular CMU Weekly podcast, an irreverent review of the week in music and the music business, also featuring CMU Editor Andy Malt. In August I present the ThreeWeeks iDaily podcast, a review of shows and events at the Edinburgh Festival, plus interviews and chat with performers, and sketches, performances and songs.

MEDIA COMMENTARY
I regularly provide comment to TV and radio programmes on the music and media industries, most notably the BBC, where I regularly discuss and explain key developments in the big music business stories. This includes Radio 5 Live (especially Wake Up To Money) and Radio 4 (especially Today) and the business strands on both the BBC News Channel and BBC World News. I have also provided commentary to CNN, Sky News and some US webcasters.

CONFERENCES
I regularly speak and moderate at music business conferences. In particular The Great Escape, the UK’s biggest music business conference, which I programme and where I lead a number of panels and interviews each year. I have also spoken and/or moderated sessions at UK events City Showcase, Liverpool Sound City, In The City, British Black Music Month, the International Live Music Conference and the Live UK Summit, and further afield at the Reeperbahn Festival in Hamburg and Dubai SoundCity. I also took part in the Big Debate at Birmingham’s New Generation Arts Festival in 2008.

LECTURING
I have lectured about the music and media industries at various colleges, including London Metropolitan University and Brighton City College, and delivered careers talks at many more, including Sussex University and the London School Of Economics. I’ve also delivered mini versions of my CMU Training courses to those at the start of their music careers at In The City, Liverpool Sound City and for Clear Talent Media at the Norwich Arts Centre.
