BBC to host special Sound Of 2018 gig on Radio 1

Sigrid

Doing its bit to ensure that Sigrid is definitely the sound of January 2018, if not the sound of all of 2018, the BBC has booked her to play at a live broadcast from its Maida Vale Studios on 30 Jan.

The winner of the Beeb’s Sound Of 2018 poll will play a show called, well, Sound Of 2018 Live. She will be joined by some other acts who appeared on the Sound Of 2018 long list – aka losers – specifically Pale Waves and Rex Orange County.

Also appearing during the special show, which will be recorded in front of one of those live studio audiences, will be Years & Years, who I am pretty sure were the Sound Of 2015 and who therefore have no business continuing to bother us all in 2018.

Says Annie Mac: “Sound Of 2018 Live is one of the first opportunities to see and hear some of the most exciting new artists in 2018. There is a performer on this line-up for everyone and I’m really looking forward to having them all perform at Maida Vale live on the show. Having the brilliant returning winners Years & Years on the line-up is an added bonus!”

Mac will host the show by the way. In case you thought she just barged in here with a random quote. As we’ve already established, it’s only Years & Years who barge in where they’re not wanted.
